A new study in America has released some exercise news certain to bring smiles to the faces of dedicated gym junkies looking to increase their strength.
The study found an intense bout of interval training for 20 minutes three times a week was as effective at boosting strength and endurance as five to six hours of jogging or moderate cycling. It's a technique that's been used for years by sports teams and athletes.Ed Coyle, a professor of kinesiology at the University of Texas, says it's not the best type of exercise for general health and fitness because it doesn't burn as many calories as exercise done over longer periods of time.So there's no escape from the hard slog of the treadmill or exercise bike.
